Since 1939, the geomagnetic field has been thought to arise from a dynamo mechanism, though not in Earth's fluid core as long believed, but in the fission-product sub-shell of the georeactor, a naturally occurring nuclear fission reactor thought to exist at the center of the Earth. This is the reason.
