International Women’s Day - 8th March

International Women’s Day - 8th March

In December 1977 the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution proclaiming a United Nations Day for Women’s Rights and International Peace.

March 8th provides an opportunity to pay tribute to the achievements of women and to highlight the needs and concerns of women on national, regional and global agendas.

* Read a biography or autobiography of a famous woman. Suggest this as an idea for your book club.
* Distribute information about International Women’s Day or women’s achievements. Women in World History website contains valuable information. Use it to write a column for your school newspaper.
* Find out about International Women’s Day events in your community and advertise them and encourage students to attend.
